Black Eyed Susan

16"20" Oil Painting

16″ x 20″ Oil Painting

Since I lived in Maryland for most of my life, I decided to paint the “Black Eyed Susan” which is the State flower.  The flower is commonly seen in fields and on roadsides and blooms between May and August. Incidentally, there is a cocktail called “Black-eyed Susan” made with orange and pineapple juice, vodka, light rum, and orange liqueur.  And the flower is also used to make the blanket that drapes the winning horse at the Preakness in Baltimore, Maryland.
